Knights of the King's Table

The GCC 2023-24 Knights of the King’s Table
Scripture Memory Program

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psa. 119:11)
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly …” (Col. 3:16a)

KKT is our Scripture memory program here at GCC. … It has become more important than ever for Christians to “hide the Word of God” in their hearts. We are living in a time of deep spiritual darkness (Since the 1960’s, we have seen a sexual revolution that has changed the definition of marriage and the family [even the definition of “male” and “female”]; … in our own time, we are witnessing an unprecedented time of lawlessness … that actually involves the “killing” of police officers. The presidential campaigns have produced an unprecedented political turmoil and unrest. We face fearful times of great uncertainty, and we do not know where all this will lead us!

Ephesians 2:12 speaks of those who are “without God and without hope in the world.” But, II Peter 1:3-4 says God has “given us everything we need.” … i.e. we are not without resources that make us sufficient to withstand the fearful circumstances around us! … The passage goes on to speak of how God has given us His “exceedingly great and precious promises;” … and it says it is “through them” that we can “escape the corruption in the world …” Hebrews 6:19 speaks of the hope the Christian has through these promises of God. It says: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” It is the best preparation for when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ [II Cor. 5:10]
But Christians cannot experience a full measure of the “peace of God” that “guards our hearts and minds” [Phil. 4:7] unless we learn to memorize the promises of God [“hide them in our hearts”], meditate upon them, and pray them back to God. This is how we “put on the whole armor of God” [Ephesians 6:11] for our protection in such fearful and dangerous times!

The Knights of the King’s Table program runs through each school year from September thru March. The goal is to memorize approximately 25 key verses from God’s Word, and to master one extended passage (usually 4 to six verses long). We seek to master 4 or 5 verses each month during the School year. Those who stay with this Scripture memory program each year will ultimately fortify and nourish their soul with a well-rounded array of key promises from the Word of God. Each year we focus on one of four color coded sections of “The Pastor’s Book of Reminders” (cf. II Peter 1:12-15): RED = Spiritual Warfare; BLUE = God, His names and attributes; GOLD = the position of royalty bestowed on the Christian in Christ; and GREEN = Spiritual Growth.
The 2023-24 season will focus on the BLUE cards (The Names & Attributes of God).

The old saying has much truth in it: “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions!” Most Christians are procrastinators! “Someday I will get serious about memorizing the promises of God, but I’m too busy right now.” We are all full of excuses: “I can’t memorize; … I’m no good at it.” The devil knows this, and he encourages such thinking! … Here, in the KKT program, is a systematic approach to the memorization of the promises in God’s Word and the nourishing and strengthening of our soul to withstand all the assaults the world, the flesh and the devil can muster against us.
